Sam Lofquist, LSW
Sam Lofquist, LSW is a dedicated and empathetic therapist with a Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. With over a decade of experience supporting adolescents, families, and individuals across the lifespan, Sam brings a deep well of expertise and compassion to their clinical practice, working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Sam specializes in working with attachment-based and childhood trauma, grief counseling, and end-of-life support. They have extensive experience providing family therapy, particularly in navigating complex family dynamics and intergenerational challenges. As a member of the LGBTQ community, Sam offers affirming care to LGBTQ clients, including those at various stages of gender transition, and supports both individuals and families in fostering understanding, healing, and connection.
Their therapeutic journey includes time spent as a therapist in a residential treatment facility for previously incarcerated youth, many of whom carried deep wounds from early trauma, disrupted attachments, and systemic involvement. This work sharpened Sam’s ability to meet clients exactly where they are with respect, openness, and a grounded presence. Sam’s approach is rooted in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and attachment-based techniques. Their foundation lies in building strong therapeutic relationships and using a strengths-based lens to guide healing. With a Master’s Degree in Education and experience as a secondary educator, Sam offers a unique ability to connect with adolescents and their families, understanding the nuanced needs of both.
Sam believes deeply in the power of human connection to mend what’s broken. For Sam, therapy is a space to reconnect to ourselves, our families, and our communities and to find healing in the relationships that give life meaning.
