Amber Bahler, Pre-Licensed Therapist
Amber Bahler is a pre-licensed therapist pursuing her masters degree in social work at the University of Pittsburgh. Amber has extensive experience in the mental health field and has been an ASL interpreter for the past 22 years.
Amber is a keen listener and highly values the therapeutic alliance, building a safe container for her clients within the therapy space. She values trust, empathy and authenticity and believes strongly in the power of journeying with someone as a pathway to change.
Her theoretical approach is eclectic in nature and client-centered, drawing from psychodynamic and mindfulness-based modalities as well as Cognitive Behavior Therapy. She also has a keen interest in the mind-body connection and incorporates movement or somatic approaches when possible.
Amber holds her National Interpreter Certification, has served as a professional mentor for many years, and has also taught at the collegiate level. She is familiar with the Disability community and believes in an empowerment approach.
During Amber’s ASL interpreting career she specialized in mental health interpreting and often worked with professionals in helping fields including case managers, teachers, counselors, parents, interpreters, nurses and others in similar fields. Amber understands burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma, and she has a passion for making sure that the helpers are supported and receive the same care which they provide for others.
